Sample Work → Business Strategy AlignmentStrategy first. Everything else follows.
Most businesses operate on an implied strategy — decisions made over time that were never connected into a coherent whole. Crestline Auto Group was no different: solid revenue, a loyal customer base, and no documented plan for how they were winning or where they were going next.
What We Did
We started where every PDL engagement starts — with a full SPDR diagnostic. Before we made a single recommendation, we mapped all four systems simultaneously: how decisions were getting made, how work was actually flowing, what the data was (and wasn't) telling them, and how resources were being used.
What came out of that diagnostic was a complete business strategy built on the Roger Martin strategy cascade — a clear winning aspiration, defined market focus, an explicit approach to competing, the capabilities required to win, and the management systems needed to run it. Not a vision statement. A working strategy their team could use.
From there, we translated that strategy into a roadmap: nine initiatives across two phases, sequenced by impact and dependencies — not by what was easiest to start.
